November 8, 2018 2 | P a g e E x e c u t i v e D i r e c t o r ’ s U p d a t e Business Operations • Articles of Amendment have been filed with the State regarding the name change of the Foundation from Fire and Emergency Services Foundation, Inc. to Florida Fire Chiefs’ Foundation, Inc. This is now complete, and we are working on the branding and other changes and documentation to reflect the new name. • Conducted a review of Association and Foundation banking, SunTrust & Intracoastal, accounts, and streamlined accounts into operating and reserve money market accounts. Also, closing account at Intracoastal of $100,000 and transferring to SunTrust money market reserve account. • We are transitioning our payroll services from CompUS to SunTrust which will result in a cost savings to the Association ($600 vs $4,000 per year). • Reviewing FFCA’s Articles of Incorporation with the intent to file an Amendment with the State to change from “Non-Profit” to “Non-Profit – Tax Exempt (501C-3).” Our Attorney, Cobb and Cole, reviewed and referred to the Accountant. Waiting on response from DiBartolomeo, McBee, Hartley & Barnes. • Preparing for Financial Audit…need to hold audit before we change accountants. Could cost $10,000 to $15,000. • Looking at a local Accounting Firm, Sanders, Hollow & Ryan http://shrcpa.com/ to handle our accounting. In the process of completing a cost analysis for services. At first read, this firm appears to charge less then we currently pay and specializes in Associations. • Also, as part of our internal accounting practices, we are transitioning to QuickBooks Online. • Established a “Win – Win” program with Star & Shield…anyone who calls the number provided inquiring about coverage and/or a quote, Stare & Shield will donate $10.00 to the Foundation. This information has been “Flashed” to our membership and is also located on our website. • Currently in negotiations with our lobbyist, Johnson & Blanton, regarding the renewal of our “Letter of Agreement.” Conference and Program Management • The Safety and Health Conference will be held at the B Resort in Lake Buena Vista December 9–12, 2018. All speakers have been confirmed and schedule is locked in. In the process of obtaining CEUs and Speaker Agreements. The PPC, lead by Chief Babinec, has done an outstanding job with the program. • Fire-Rescue EAST will be at the Ocean Center January 22–26, 2019. The Program Planning Committee has narrowed down the “Call-for-Papers” and has selected speakers.
