On March 1st, 2020, Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order number 20- 51 directing the Florida Department of Health to issue a Public Health Emergency related to the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). After that order, the business operations of the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association, over the last two (2) years, were limited due to office closure, Executive Board resignations, and other extenuating circumstances.

Again, on February 25, 2022, the Association’s 1st Vice President resigned from the Executive Board making a total of three (3) Executive Board resignations in as many years. These resignations have disrupted the succession of leadership within the Association’s Board and as such, the Board of Directors feels the need to act to ensure consistency of leadership and the best business practices of the Association.

To remedy this concern, the Board of Directors of the Association deems it necessary and appropriate to extend and modify such terms of office by one (1) year for the Immediate Past President and President of the Association to ensure continuity in leadership and recommends
approval by the general membership.

The Florida Fire Chiefs' Association (FFCA) Board of Directors met on March 9, 2022, and approved proposed Resolution Number 2022-01, regarding extending the terms of office by one (1) year for the positions of Immediate Past President and President, set to expire July 19th, 2022.

For more details on the voting process, please see the sections below. Voting opens Thursday, June 16th, 2022 and will close at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Again, the Board of Directors recommends approval and encourages you to vote on this very
important issue.
