F5/RF5 Aerial Fire Apparatus

Class will help prepare the technician for the EVT F5 exam or the RF5 Recertification Exam.

101 Hale Pump Class
This is a real-world, hands on training class.  The class covers the care, operation and maintenance of Hale mid-ship pumps.   Pump accessories will also be covered.  Day 1 is a classroom setting.  Day 2 + 3 are hands on.  We will be working with a real fire truck.  Students will remove the pump, diagnose the problem, re-build the pump, and re-install on the truck.   Day 4 will cover pump test.  We will hook up to a test pit, and run through the pump certification procedure.

The course will review materials needed for supervisor level in a shop setting.  It will cover management principles as stated in The Career Equipment Fleet Manager, as well as cover the requirements of Fire Apparatus as stated by NFPA.

Workshop emphasizes advanced service of OEM installed V-MUX electrical systems. Manuals and materials will be provided for students. Fleet Air Conditioning

Introduction of Bus-Air. Introduction of A/C (when it was born in the USA with statistics…about 30-45 minutes), what the components are that make up an A/C System and what each parts function is. Break for 15 minutes. Talk about how the refrigerant flows and how each component accepts the refrigerant. Lunch break. Talk about the importance of the correct refrigerant oil to use.Talk about the ABC's of diagnostics Take questions from audience. We usually bring A/C certification tests to hand out to mechanics who wish to become certified. I ask at the beginning of class and hand out if any are handed out we will go over the test briefly to ensure everyone understands at the end of the class.

The Class1 ES-Key Multiplex System Course will cover a brief review of multiplexing, and dive into ES-Key hardware, with hands on training of the ES-Key Pro Service software.  Students will review the menu structure, multiplex logic, view reports and live circuits.  Several simulators will be available so students can perform diagnostics, trouble-shooting, and manipulate inputs and outputs.
